Mrs. Heather Dragon

My name is Heather Dragon and this is my 23rd year of teaching.  I began my teaching career in St. Pete in 2000 and enjoyed working at Shore Acres Elementary for ten years.  However, after having my third child, I knew it was time to find a school a little closer to home.

Braden River Elementary became my home away from home ten years ago.  I've had experience teaching 5th grade, 4th grade, 3rd grade, as well as a 3rd-4th combo class.  I love teaching science and I was given the experience of learning new things with all of my engineering classes when I taught STEM two years ago.

I was thrilled to come to Harvey to teach fourth grade last year.  My daughter graduated from BRHS and my youngest, Hunter finished 5th grade at BRE which prompted me to move right down the road from my home!  I have loved being under the leadership of Hayley Rio again and am looking forward to learning alongside my new class.

I believe that every child can learn and I am here to help each child in my class to achieve their goals and make learning gains.  I encourage my students to be independent, motivated, and responsible workers.  I know with all of us working together to teach your child, anything is possible!

I married my high school sweetheart in 2000 and we have 3 children, Haley, David, and Hunter.  Haley attends USF in St. Pete, David will be a freshman at Palmetto High, and Hunter goes to Buffalo Creek Middle School.  Our family loves to swim, boat, read, and play together.  I'm sure I'll have plenty of funny stories to share with my class as there is always something amusing happening with the Dragons!

I'm so excited to try new things and I plan to implement some of what I learned as a STEM/IE2 teacher in the classroom.
